“I FOUND SHALOM”

STORIES OF SHALOM

WHAT MY RABBI TOLD ME

Raised in a religious Jewish home, as a young man Dan declared, “I will never believe in Jesus!” Decades later, Dan explains why believing in Jesus is the most important thing a Jewish person can do.

WHAT IS JESUS DOING IN MY BIBLE?

From an early age, Israel was taught that Jesus is for the Gentiles. One day, after reading Isaiah 53, he wondered, “What is Jesus doing in my bible?” When Israel read the New Testament, he found it to be a profoundly Jewish book.

THE MOST JEWISH BOOK EVER

Bernard was shaped by stories of his family’s experience in the Holocaust. Though he didn’t take the Tanakh seriously, he was haunted by questions about the afterlife. Then a lecture on Jesus’ teachings transformed his life.

THERE IS ACTUALLY HOPE

Serving in Vietnam, Sam witnessed the horrors of war. His rabbi’s explanations of evil weren’t enough. One day Sam met some people who said Jesus was Jewish. Sam decided to attend their Bible study so he could laugh at them, but G-d had something else in mind.

PEACE FOR ALL HUMANITY

Early on, Rich decided Jesus could not be the Messiah, since there was no peace on earth. But he also realized humans couldn’t bring about any real change. Rich’s search for peace led him to Isaiah 53.

WHO IS REALLY WORTHY

“You can’t go to heaven because you’re Jewish,” Jennifer’s Catholic neighbors had told her. As an adult, despite a fun career of international travel with celebrities and musicians, she felt empty. She began to search for a new way of looking at life.

When Religion Doesn’t Bring Closeness to G-d

WHAT WE REALLY NEED IN LIFE

If you are feeling crushed by the demands of the Torah, you are not alone. Judaism is not unique among religions when it places demands on people which G-d never intended. G-d led the people of Israel out of slavery in Egypt in order to make us free. And He gave us the Torah so we might have a relationship with Him. The Torah is a guide for Israel to know G-d. Perhaps you worship G-d, but do you really know Him?

Beyond the Role of Redeemer

the promised messiah

“Blessed are you L-rd our G-d…who brings a redeemer to their children’s children….” This daily Jewish prayer identifies the Messiah as a redeemer promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This begs the question: what do the Messiah need to redeem His children from?

The Rambam correctly describes the Messiah as the person who will bring the exile of Israel to an end. However, there is more to Messiah’s redemption goes much deeper than this.
